Common Questions

Answers before you need them.

What is the door actually made of? +
The door panel is high-density fiberglass and the frame is full composite — no wood core to rot and no steel to rust. Because every edge is sealed, moisture has no joint to work into, so the door won't swell, warp, or delaminate over time.
How do I choose how much glass I want? +
"Lite" refers to the glass area. Full Lite gives you the most daylight; 3/4 and 1/2 Lite balance light with more privacy and a lower panel; and paneled styles like Craftsman keep a smaller decorative light up top. Pick based on how much natural light — versus privacy — you want at your entry.
How do I know if I need left-hand or right-hand? +
Handing is determined by standing outside, facing the door, and noting the side the hinges are on — that's the hand. Measure and confirm your opening before ordering, since wrong handing is the single most common entry-door return.
Do these come as a slab or pre-hung, and what's included? +
Configuration and included hardware vary by model and by the options you select on the Home Depot listing. Check each product's page for slab vs. pre-hung, glass, finish, and hardware before you order, so you know exactly what's arriving.

What does the warranty actually cover? +
Structural components — the frame and panel — carry a Limited Lifetime Warranty for the original purchaser in an owner-occupied home. Full terms are on the Warranty & Support page.
Will an exterior fiberglass door hold up in my climate? +
Composite construction won't warp or rot in humidity and won't crack in cold, and every style is Energy Star certified. From coastal humidity to hard winters, the door is built to look and operate the same year after year.
