Common Questions

Answers before you need them.

What's the difference between gliding and hinged? +
Gliding: one panel slides behind the other — only one side opens. Hinged: both panels swing open independently, giving you the widest possible opening. Gliding is the space-saver; hinged is the wide-opening option.
Does the door come with a screen? +
It depends on the model and configuration you select. The Full Lite Gliding door, for example, offers both "Screen" and "No Screen" as selectable options at checkout. Check the configuration options on each product's Home Depot listing before you order, so you know exactly what's arriving.
How do I know if I need left-hand or right-hand? +
Handing is determined by standing outside, facing the door. For gliding doors, it's named for the side the operable panel is on. For hinged doors, it's named for the side the hinges are on. Measure and confirm before ordering — wrong handing is the single most common patio door return.
What hardware comes included in the box? +
Each door ships with its handle set, locking hardware, and — on gliding models — the roller and track hardware needed for installation. Exact contents vary by model and configuration.

What does the warranty actually cover? +
Structural components — frame, panels, and astragals — carry a Limited Lifetime Warranty for the original purchaser in an owner-occupied home. Full terms are on the Warranty & Support page.
Are these doors suitable for my climate? +
Composite construction won't warp or rot in humidity, and won't crack in cold. Every model is Energy Star certified. For Florida windborne-debris regions, the Impact Hinged door carries the added certification you'll need for permitting.
