The MP Door, hurricane-rated
Storm-ready impact glass and a full composite frame, certified to Florida code and available in an HVHZ configuration — at a Home Depot price.
Hurricane-Rated Patio Doors · MP Door
The MP Door impact patio door is certified for Florida's windstorm regions under FL29714-R15, with an HVHZ configuration available. Real impact glass, certification numbers you can look up, and a Home Depot price.
How it works
When a storm drives debris into a glass door, two things have to survive: the glass and the frame. The MP Door is built for both.
The glass is 1-inch triple-layer Low-E glass with a protective interlayer — engineered so that even if the outer pane is struck, the interlayer holds the opening closed and keeps wind and rain out of your home. The door panel is high-density fiberglass in a full composite frame that won't rot, rust, or warp — the part of the door most likely to fail in a wet, high-pressure storm.
That construction is what earns the certification numbers above: third-party testing to ASTM E1886 and E1996, the large-missile impact and repeated-pressure standards Florida requires.
Certification & zones
The MP Door impact patio door is approved under Florida Building Code product approval FL29714-R15 — the statewide certification for Florida's windstorm regions. For the most demanding zone, it's also available in a configuration approved for use in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ), the tier that governs South Florida's coastal counties, including Miami-Dade and Broward.

The doors
The MP Door is a hinged (swinging) patio door — a solid, sealed alternative to a slider for coastal homes. It's the door the FL29714-R15 approval is built around.
MP Door impact protection is also available in a sliding configuration. The PG50 Sliding Patio Door carries a PG50 performance rating, making it suited to coastal applications with higher wind-pressure and water-resistance demands — the same storm-focused engineering in a space-saving slider.
